Astronomers using NASA's James Webb Space Telescope discovered Beta Pictoris d, a giant planet about twice Jupiter's mass orbiting the young star Beta Pictoris (63 light-years away) — identified through the chemical signature of its atmosphere rather than direct imaging, making the system only the second known to host at least three directly imaged planets.
