Summary (English)
The ancient Buddhist site of Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh was inscribed as India's 45th UNESCO World Heritage Site, announced during the 48th World Heritage Committee session in Busan, South Korea (July 19-29). The site includes the Chaukhandi Stupa, Dhamekh Stupa, Dharmarajika Stupa, Mulagandhakuti Vihara, and an Ashokan Pillar.
